PM202 - Project Manager

Position located in: Apertio/Nokia Siemens Networks, Emersons Green, Bristol.
Position reporting to: Program Director

Overview:

Being a Project Manager you will be responsible for the successful realisation of our projects for mobile network operators. You will be first and most competent contact for all customers’ needs. You will organize and coordinate the necessary resources and actively support sales.

The role will be responsible for delivering Projects to Nokia Siemens Networks customers in the following scenarios

  • Working with NSN Customer Teams on a global basis, the project team will be responsible for delivering First Office Application of new versions of the NSN One-NDS and One-AAA based products.
  • Support the regional NSN Customer and Consulting / System Integration teams in delivering complex projects with large degrees of customisation based on the One-NDS and One-AAA products.
  • Delivering new releases, upgrades and enhancements of the One-NDS, One-AAA and One-HLR products directly to existing Apertio customers in the EMEA region.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the realization of customer-relevant projects from purchase order until final handover
  • Compiling and calculating customer specific offers
  • Project planning and coordination in cooperation with the customer
  • Organising and holding kickoff meetings - internally as well as with the customer
  • Coordinating the internal project team, including resource and project planning
  • Project controlling, risk management
  • Holding regular project-status-meetings both internally and at the customer's premises.
  • Track project costs: personnel, hardware, software; keep costs within budget.
  • Reporting regularly to the internal management team as well as to the customer
  • Provide management interface to customer and 3rd party suppliers; ensure contracted commitments to customer are fulfilled

Key skill sets:

  • Degree or vocational equivalent.
  • Previous experience of working in the Telco business and a certain interest in commercial issues is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in a customer facing Project Management role or a Vendor Management role.
  • Managing multiple concurrent projects in changing technology environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate on all levels within the company
  • Rapid understanding of complex issues and the ability to communicate them
  • Strong leadership characteristics; you can motivate others and bring about decisions
  • Proficient in working with the relevant software tools (e.g. MS Office, MS Project)
  • Ability to work under pressure; flexibility; willingness to travel internationally at short notice
  • Ability to work in a team; initiative; assertiveness
  • Formal Project Management qualification

An appreciation of the following areas is desirable:

  • SS7, HLR, TCP/IP, LDAP, RADIUS, BSF, DIAMETER
  • Databases and client-server applications
