Position located in: Apertio/Nokia Siemens Office, Emersons Green, Bristol
Position reporting to: Custom Director

Significant travel to other NSN offices and customer sites is expected.

Introduction

NSN’s vision is to make it easier and faster for telecommunication service providers to change existing services and develop new ones by providing a single source of subscriber data accessible to all network and customer-facing activities. The NSN’s One-NDS product requires customisation and tooling prior to deployment. In this position you will be responsible for all aspects of this customisation from requirements gathering, implementation and deployment.

Responsibilities

• Customer requirements gathering, analysis and specification
• Database design, programming, and optimization
• Installation, configuration, integration and customisation of software product
• Technical consulting - providing expertise to customers on using NSN’s One-NDS directory server technology
• Pre-sales support - working with other NSN Professional Services and Sales team members to implement proof of concepts
• Co-ordinating with customers and NSN project managers and team to clearly define scope of work and provide accurate schedule estimates
• Creating and maintaining technical documentation

Skills and Experience Requirements

Technical

• 4+ year's database design experience with development skills in C, Java, Unix shell
• Good knowledge of at least one of the following directory or database products: MySQL, Oracle, Sun ONE Directory Server, Critical Path
• Understanding of X.500, LDAP and SOAP is desirable
• Implementation of highly scalable, extensible database and directory schema models in business-critical environments
• Experience in writing stored procedures, triggers and functions
• Capable of reverse engineering poorly documented legacy systems and business data models.

Personal

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Significant travel required, up to 60%
• Strong problem solving skills – capable of working at both a high-level software architecture and delving in low-level details when required
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible positive attitude
• Communication and presentation skills to external customers
• Motivated by, and committed to, meeting challenging individual and team deadlines
• Comfortable working on-site with customer at a distance from core team; able to work independently or as part of a team
• Able to professionally represent NSN to customers and manage customer expectations
• Methodical and well-organised; set high personal standards for quality of work

Qualifications

• Degree in science, engineering or technical subject
