CONS101 - Senior Consultant

Position located in: Apertio/Nokia Siemens Networks Office, Emersons Green, Bristol

Frequent deployment to customers sites primarily in EMEA although NSN does have a global customer base.

Recruiting Requirement

NSN’s vision is to make it easier and faster for telecommunication service providers to change existing services and develop new ones by providing a single source of subscriber data accessible to all network and customer-facing activities. The NSN’s One-NDS product requires customisation and tooling prior to deployment. This is a technical role delivering applications and services built on NSNs technology platform to major Tier 1 and Tier 2 accounts.

Functional Requirements

  • Implement services in telecommunications networks using X.500/LDAP Directory Servers.
  • Develop technical architecture, service designs, data schemas and data designs, technical solutions, message flows.
  • Liaise between software implementation team and customer technical team; provide techical support for the project delivery.
  • Define and develop test strategy, acceptance test concepts and procedures.
  • Run tests; support fault analysis and tracking.

Technical Knowledge

In descending order of priority:

  • Directory Server, X.500, LDAP.
  • Any Enterprise DBMS.
  • Unix systems, including software development on Unix platforms.
  • GSM service delivery platforms: HLR, Intelligent Network (SCPs), SMSC, VMS

Role Experience

  • Providing lead technical role for delivering applications and solutions.
  • Working with customers and software development teams to understand project requirements and provide solutions to meet customer needs
  • Technical prime for project delivery.
  • Experience in software design and development.

Candidate Search Targets

Job titles:

  • Consultant
  • Senior Software Engineer (this is an ideal opportunity for a developer to move into a Professional Services environment)

Company experience

  • Directory Server suppliers (eg Sun, Nexor, DataConnection, Isode)
  • RDBMS suppliers (eq Oracle, TimesTen, MySQL).
  • Network equipment suppliers (eg Siemens, Nortel, Alcatel) or
  • Systems integrators (eg Logica, Orga, Atos).
  • Mobile operators (eg T-Mobile, Vodafone, o2),
  • Typically 5-10 years experience in the software business.

Personal Skills

  • Communication and presentation skills to external customers .
  • Motivated by, and committed to, to meeting challenging individual and team deadlines.
  • Comfortable working on-site with customer at a distance from core team.
  • Able to professionally represent Apertio to customers.
  • Able to cope to short periods of intense pressure.
  • Methodical and well-organised.
  • Sets high personal standards for quality of work
