Position: System Monitor Test Lead, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Reporting to: System Monitor Development Manager, UK

Overall Objective

To ensure, as leader of the test team, that each release of System Monitor is tested to the highest standard within the timescales provided and to report any problems that may be found. The testing is centred on ensuring that all basic system functions work as detailed in the system requirements and on Non-Functional areas such as Capacity, Installation, Maintenance, Performance, Robustness, Stability, Usability and Upgrade testing on large systems simulating live system scenarios. The System Monitor is a product that sits alongside the Apertio – ONE Network Directory Server (NDS), providing network monitoring functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• To define the overall Test Strategy for each release of System Monitor
• Prepare Test Plans, Specifications and Scripts to validate the expected system functionality;
• Write, review and execute Test Cases and Test Scripts;
• Raise fault reports when appropriate;
• Write Test Reports;
• Setup test lab.

Person Specification

Essential Skills:

• At least 3 years experience in white box, black box or integration testing;
• At least 2 years experience using one of the following:
• Experience in clustered environments or distributed systems;
• Experience of databases using external replication;
• Experience of Network Management Systems;
• Excellent knowledge of testing processes and methodologies;
• Scripting and test automation knowledge;
• User level UNIX skills including scripting;
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Essential Attributes:

• Ability to see and comprehend the big picture;
• Proactive, methodical, organized, enthusiastic, eager to learn, take pride in own work, pay great attention to detail;
• Ability to communicate with people clearly and efficiently.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience of GUI Testing methods;
• Knowledge of LDAP, SNMP, X.500;
• Experience of Perl;
• Experience of working with UK-based companies;
