CONS103 - Principal Consultant

Position located in: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Apertio is becoming the leading independent supplier of core network software infrastructure for wireless carriers. Growth resulting from major new orders and increasing investment means that an additional experienced engineer is required to join Apertio’s Integration team.

Candidates for this role must have strong experience in the integration of applications in the Telecoms core network in addition to practical experience of UNIX platforms and IP network services. Candidates must be keen to develop skills in new technologies and will enjoy working as a "hands-on" team member at all levels inside Apertio to meet its customer commitments.

The role of a Principle Consultant within Apertio is highly varied and consists of the following range of activities:

  • Management of teams of Consultants
  • Installation, integration and testing of Apertio’s software products into customer networks
  • Technically leading commercial trials of Apertio Software
  • Technical management of customer needs and requirements
  • Integration of new software products/components within Apertio as part of the product release procedure
  • Tier 3 Support Services to the Support teams including "Out of Hours" responsibilities
  • Consultancy to Network Operators and other third parties associate with Apertio’s products
  • Direct involvement in the design and implementation of Apertio products

Functional Experience

Candidates must have experience of the following activities:

  • Installation, configuration and commissioning of UNIX systems (preferably Solaris or Linux) in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in the integration and testing of third party software at all stages of commercial introduction including Customer Acceptance Testing and Integration Testing.
  • Debug faults found during testing: collect / analyse diagnostic information; co-ordinate with application developers to devise and obtain fixes and workarounds; develop local software patches.
  • Experience of at least one application in the telecom core network (i.e MSc, SMSc, SGSN, HLR, HSS, Prepaid, STP, Mobile Number Portability, SCP etc.).
  • Provide primary technical interface between Apertio and its customers for configuration and installation of software, and resolution of technical queries and faults.

Technical Knowledge and Experience

Candidates must have sound demonstrable knowledge and experience the following technologies:

  • UNIX, especially Solaris and/or LINUX.
  • SS7 (MTP, SCCP, TCAP and MAP)
  • GSM Core Network
  • IP Skills
  • Some development experience in C
  • A basic understanding of database technology

  • Willingness to travel and work away from home for brief periods (up to three weeks) at short notice.
