Apertio Named as a Top Ten Private Company by Light Reading

Bristol, UK, 26 April 2006: Apertio, the leading independent provider of subscriber-centric networks, today announced it has been named in Light Reading’s Top Ten Private Companies list. Entrance into this select group of organisations is based on strict criteria: world-class technology, financial stability and management experience. Light Reading also looks for critical x-factors, including company attitude and professionalism, to set its list apart from other industry rankings.

To quote from its selection article: "If you're looking for a company with a buzz so loud it'll hurt your ears, look no further than Apertio. The company has put itself in an enviable position, winning high-profile customers like Orange UK, T-Mobile International AG and Vodafone Group."

To highlight its technology leadership, the judges cited how Apertio has effectively positioned itself as a supplier of Home Subscriber Server (HSS) technology, a critical element in the hot IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) sector. Greham Finnie, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading, commented: "The HSS is very important, one of the key modules in an IMS environment. There’s a lot of potential to make some serious money if you have a good HSS".

As an example of its financial strength, Apertio ended 2005 by closing a Series B funding round of $30 million, one of the largest of the year in the European technology sector. T-Mobile Venture Fund, the venture arm of Deutsche Telekom, also joined existing investors after the successful adoption of Apertio technology by T-Mobile across Europe.

In support of its management experience, Apertio has continued to reinforce its strong team. Led by co-founder and CEO, Paul Magelli, Apertio has appointed senior industry experts over the past 12 months to take a lead in driving the business and market forward. High profile additions have included Derek Flynn as VP Sales, Andrew Wyatt as VP Marketing, Steve Neat as Director Sales EMEA, Rajeev Sunder as General Manager Asia Pacific and Adam Bryant as CTO Asia Pacific.

"Being included in the Light Reading Top Ten Private Companies list is a reflection of both our ongoing industry leadership position in the current and new generation telecoms infrastructure space, and the adoption of the Apertio One suite by the largest and fastest fixed, mobile and converged operators in the world," said Andrew Wyatt, vice president, marketing, Apertio.
